DOES MY PRE- PAID METER WORK?

The meter is powered by a battery installed inside and comes with a smart card which acts as an interface between the meter and a computer system at NWSC. A customer who has a pre- paid meter has to pay upfront by buying units which are loaded on the smart card at selected Customer Service Centers.

HOW DO I PURCHASE AND LOAD UNITS?

Before visiting the NWSC pay- point, you need to swipe your smart card on the meter. After swiping the card on the meter, present the card to the cashier at NWSC Changanamai Customer Service Center. Credit will be loaded onto the card depending on the amount you want. You will have to swipe the card again on the meter to download the units you purchased.

HOW DO I PURCHASE AND LOAD UNITS?

The amount on the bill you received for April 2015 is still outstanding and NWSC will recover that debt through the purchase of units you will be making by deducting 40% of the amount you present to buy units until all the debt is recovered. Besides paying for your arrears, a K5 will also be deducted on every first purchase of the month as meter rental charge.

WHO OWNS THE METER?

The meter belongs to NWSC. However, you will assume full responsibility of it. If the meter is deliberately damaged, you will pay the full cost. In addition, a fine will be charged and legal action will be taken in the courts of law.

WHAT ROLE SHOULD I PLAY AS A CUSTOMER?

To enjoy full benefits of your meter, seal off all your leaks as every drop counts. Make sure you understand fully how the meter operates and above all, be a good citizen by avoiding illegal connections and vandalism. You must also conserve water.
